Paintings
" The Garden " by Ken Yau
In
" The Garden ", Ken Yau explores the relationship between earth
and humanity. His works are dominated by strong colours, flowers, animals,
human expressions in the form of dancing, meditation, crying and laughter.
Happiness and sadness, wealth and poverty, success and failure, clarity
and confusion, what is real and what is not? Can one truly experience
one without the other? The artist invites us to question and explore this
theme.
Yau
was born in Ipoh in 1953. His talent and interest in the arts soon developed.
He studied art at the School of Art and Design in Wellington, New Zealand
under John Drawbridge, a reknowned New Zealand artist and sculptor. He
won the Crown Lynn Design Award in 1976. In Malaysia, Yau's works were
exhibited at the National Art Gallery Open Show in 2001 and at the National
Art Gallery Artists's Cafe in 2005. His works painted in 2005 at the National
Gallery are now in the permanent collection.
